Two associations representing medical device manufacturers and grocers recently announced ownership changes for their annual trade shows.
The Advanced Medical Technology Association has acquired the The MedTech Conference from the Life Sciences Conference Group, which previously produced the event for AdvaMed. Likewise, the National Grocers Association announced that events managements company Clarion Events had acquired an equity stake in the group's NGA Show.
In a statement, AdvaMed said the acquisition of The MedTech Conference is part of a new strategic approach by the group to deliver of a full range of events, networking, education and partnering opportunities.
"This is an important milestone in AdvaMed's growth as an association," AdvaMed CEO Scott Whitaker said. "Fully integrating the conference into AdvaMed's day-to-day operations will provide us with increased creative and operational control as our annual event continues to expand and flourish."
The next MedTech Conference will be held Sept. 24-26 in Philadelphia.
NGA said the new partnership with Clarion Events would add resources to allow the NGA Show to grow. Among the changes will be an expanded show floor with more offerings for attendees.
"With Clarion Event's investment in the NGA Show, we have the opportunity to increase that value proposition, particularly on the EXPO floor, while continuing to maintain the special experience that we have created for NGA members and attendees," NGA CEO Peter Larkin said.
The next NGA Show will be held Feb. 24-27 in San Diego.
